Alumina

Greenhill’s precision alumina powders are manufactured from 99% pure white aluminum oxide especially designed for use in the production of the most advanced optics and for surface preparation of silicon and germanium semiconductor materials, stainless steel, aluminum and many other materials requiring a very fine scratch free surface. Depending upon the application and alumina powder, a suspension treatment is sometimes recommended. Please review the following features and grit sizes and contact Greenhill Supply for pricing and availability.

Boron Carbide

Boron carbide is one of the hardest man-made materials available in commercial quantities that have a finite melting point low enough to permit its relatively easy fabrication into shapes. Due to the extreme hardness of boron carbide, chemical inertness and high neutron absorption cross section, boron carbide is well suited to a variety of industrial applications. Please review the following applications, features and specifications and contact Greenhill Supply with price and availability.

Applications

  • Wear parts such as blasting nozzles, wire-drawing dies, powdered metal and ceramic forming dies, thread guides and armor.
  • Abrasives for lapping and ultrasonic cleaning.
  • Nuclear applications such as reactor control rods and neutron absorbing shielding.
  • Anti-oxidant in carbon-bonded refractory mixes.
