Emery
(Emerundum®)
Emery is produced
from a naturally occurring emery ore that is rich in aluminum oxide.
Mineralogically, emery is an intimate mix of corundum and magnetite.
Corundumis a natural form of aluminum oxide. Because there is such
a high percentage of aluminum oxide in emery, this emery is extremely
hard, tough and fracture resistant. The emery we sell is crushed only
from specially selected abrasive emery ore that contains not less than
58% aluminum oxide. Emery is a dense, non-porous fine-grained aggregate
which is mainly used in buffing compounds, particularly for chrome
plate, as a loose abrasive in ball grinders and as a tough additive
for anti-skid flooring applications.

Garnet
This garnet is an
almandite variety of garnet. Almandite garnet is a natural, chemically
inert, iron alumino-silicate mineral. The combination of it’s
specific set of physical properties make it an excellent natural abrasive.
Garnet is a fast cutting, low consumption, low dusting, recyclable
mineral abrasive. Garnet, in many cases, can be recycled 3-5 times
which helps cut many project costs down such as abrasive collection,
clean-up and disposal. Since garnet has low dust characteristics and
is a relatively hard abrasive (7.5 Mohs), rate of removal on tough
surfaces is increased and cleaning efficiency greatly improves when
garnet is used. Garnet is also used as an excellent cutting medium
in waterjet cutting applications.
