Surface & Centerless Grinding Wheels

Centerless and surface grinding wheels can be manufactured in a variety of different grain types, hardnesses and bond types. Many sizes and specifications are available immediately from stock depending upon the particular application. From aluminum oxide white or brown, silicon carbide black or green, to a wheel manufactured with ceramic media, Greenhill Supply can supply you with the right wheel for your application.

Grades & Applications

2A (blue color) Tough aluminum oxide recommended for heavy stock removal.
9A (white color) Very friable aluminum oxide recommended for tool steels,
and other heat sensitive steels.
12A (pink color) Semi-friable grain has a chromium impurity to impart special
fracture capabilities. Recommended for heat sensitive steel, special and high
chrome alloys.
13A (pink color) Semi-friable aluminum oxide recommended for grinding
materials containing high chrome. Typically used with bonds designed for
surface grinding on large contact areas.
LA (beige color) Combination of semi-friable and friable aluminum oxide
recommended for tool steels and surface grinding.
WA (white color) Friable aluminum oxide recommended for tool steels and
surface grinding on large contact areas.
3MSB (medium blue color) A mixture of 30% ceramic (MSB) and 70% of
a friable conventional abrasive (9A). Recommended for low stock removal
operations and relatively soft parts.
2PB & 3PB (light purple color) A mixture of high performance blends of
sol-gel abrasives. Recommended for high chrome and most difficult tool steels.
2WB & 3WB (light blue color) A mixture of sol-gel and conventional abrasives.
Recommended for surface grinding tool steels.
5C (green color) Silicon carbide recommended for heat sensitive non-ferrous materials.
GC (green color) Silicon carbide recommended for heat sensitive non-ferrous materials.
